2007-SACSAA homecoming dinner night!

Hello friends! Here we are again smiling our hearts away, as we the SACS batch of '73 amuse you with our never ending gestures and "kalokohans" in this year's homecoming celebration of our high school alma mater: Saint Alphunso's Catholic School!

We are so lucky to have batch mates who are always willing and happy to share their time and most specially their much awaited gifts of friendship (in kind and financial). May we give our utmost and heartfelt thanks to all the major donors and sponsors(dili lang nako i claro dinhi kay 'confidential man), who, in more ways than one, shared with us their fruits of labor and esteemed heart for the success of the affair.

Here goes our huge smiles and big tummies! Happy viewing! You can click on the pictures for a larger view:

Mrs. Miller a.k.a. "Gingging"

The year : 2007
month: August
day : Sunday
hour : noontime

These are the details of our recently concluded "High School Batch reunion". It was held @ the newly bought house of Mrs. Miller. You want to know who she is? Sure! She is no other than our very own friend in Babag- Ging-ging! Yeey! She is now Mrs. Miller! She married an australian-retiree and they are now happily staying in the smallest continent of the world, which is tagged as the continent "down under" - AUSTRALIA!

Gingging as we knew her in high school is the same Ging-ging today, but take note: she is RICHER! As in, but mind you she can be reached anytime man hinuon thru her mobile phone! Yes, Ging-ging came over to be with us- her batchmates- to enjoy the fun we left off while we were in high school. She still sports her ever-strong intonation, the way like the "Babag-way", if you know what i mean. And this year, we celebrated our homecoming in her beautiful two-storey house, in Villa del Rio (ah! pakapin pa man advertize!). We sure had fun and drank all the wines and boozes away! Daghang salamat Ging! Sa uulitin ha!

And more things happened, as if it was not enough, two more of our classmates in high school came over all the away from abroad, namely: Gigil Cordovez and the ever charming- COCOY! We welcome them all and chatted every second of it and ate together the lechon which Ging-ging prepared for us and the food courtesy of Gigil and Cocoy too, Then we danced away the entire night! Thanks to these blessed pals! They are loved and missed everyday.

Here we are with our smiles and what-have-you! He he! Please click on the pictures to enlarge.

And salamat pud sa tanan tanan na mitambong. Everyone deserves happiness!

Walk for FUN-2007

The day has finally come that high school class batches of SACS Alumni would continue the traditional FUN WALK, which marks the onset of SACSAA Homecoming celebration.

As it has been our way of starting the Grand Homecoming event for our high school Alma Mater, we, the 1973 class, for the first time, has joined in the parade! For the past years since the beginning of this event, our batch has been the designated commitee and judge for the Fun Walk. But this year, we are one of the contingents and luckily enough, we emerged as one of the winners as the "Best Uniformed Group". Maybe it was our primavera as a contender.

Thanks so much to those who voted for us, we are so happy and grateful. Here are some of the snapshots: Happy viewing!

By the way, before we go to the next blog, allwo me to give thanks to our host every after Fun Walk and that's no less than: Mr. Reuben Alcantara and his ever so pretty wife- Edith. Ma'am Edith, salamat kaayo sa tanan higayon na imo gihatag kanamo mga schoolmates ni Reuben. Dili jud mi makalimot sa imong kaayo ma'am! God Bless!

Meeting- 2007

It has been quite a while since our last entry here. But worry not 'coz here goes the latest batch meeting, documented here for your convenience. It was held in Nympha's (Roma before, now Hierco) "Kandingan" located in Humay-humay road, just beside her Mom's house. We held it there in time for its grand opening last July.

Of course, Kanding was served along with other foods like "sinugbang isda (grilled fish), Pork Barbeque, with our very own 'puso' and lots more. Everyone had a big supper that night and drinks were served too! And that's the most important thing- aside of course, the meeting.

Oh well, we had fun alright, all faces were filled with big smiles and we have pictures to prove it! (do we really need proof, anyway?). Enjoy!

Smiles!

Dancing queen !

The Pilgrimage

It was a cold sunday morning of December when we embark on a holy journey to Mama Mary's side atop the small hill of Sibonga... Simala.

It was here where our very dear Blessed Virgin Mary appeared tearful on her birthday celebration of 1998. She was sad, quite sad. It was also learned that her complexion turned dark into almost black. Amidst these phenomenon, the monks decided to praise more our Holy Mother so the Bishop crowned her on the eve of her birthday (September,1999). It was then when she turned fair back to her original texture. My, oh my! What a miracle that was!
That's where we went last Sunday. We prayed, gave thanks and asked for petitons from our Blessed Mother Mary. Quite surprisingly however, inspite of the typoon which supposedly was passing thru Cebu during that time, it turned out to be cool and fair. Rain did pour in but only a little. Perhaps because Mama Mary knew we needed a little sunshine for our journey. Thanks to you dear Mother, we had so much fun, not to mention great bonding among us. More of our holy trip below. (You can click on the pictures for a clearer view)

On our way back, we decided to stop by @ Theotokus (Carcar), where the famous "dancing sun" supposedly appeared. It was an awesome view up there. The sea view looked refreshing @ a distance, although the skies went black with dark clouds every now and then. But still we prayed and thanked Mother Mary for that wholesome day!

Oh, not only did we went down south and prayed, we side tripped across Mandaue City and stopped to pose @ Cebu International Convention Center (CICC). It was opened last week for the ASEAN Summit, which was originally scheduled this week but was postponed because of typhoon "Seniang". Anyway, we managed to shoot a couple of poses with the building as the backdrop. Here goes:

We really had fun!

Funwalk - 2006

A walk never becomes fun unless it is done with dedication. Afterall, what's more fun with walking if not with the SACS High School Class Batch of 1973! And this is not just any walk, mind you. As part of the traditional Saint Alphonsus Catholic School (S.A.C.S.) Day celebration, a funwalk was organized by our batch in High School(1973). And together with the week long celebration, the SACSAA Alumni Association enhanced the entire event with various activities including the great Reunion Dinner, which highlights the affair as its climax.

This year, the Funwalk started on a very cold morning of August 5. Everyone got up earlier than usual and put on their batch favorite shirts and sweetest smiles and brought along ballons and gracefully marched down the main street from the SACS quadrangle, around the city plaza, the church and back! Plus the "Hataw" energized each one's hardened knees.

Oh yes! It sure was FUN, not to mention we got to relax and savour the hospitality of our very accommodating classmate Reuben with his wife Edith. Thanks so much! You are the best! Hope to see you all next year!

Below are some captured moments. Click on the pictures to enlarge. Have fun!

HEY! Nobody is walking!

The best of times!

High school never came this good until now. It has been years since we had our tantrums, first crushes, new acquaintances, first love, etc, etc.
Nostalgia ate us up when our school celebrated its 90th year of existence in our community. Saint Alphonsus Catholic School (S.A.C.S.) has been a great institution, a magnificent mentor over the years. Our beloved alma mater has always given us enormous reasons for inspiring great achivements in life, and with this, our high school batch of 1973, congratulate you dear S.A.C.S. for a fantastic job!
Some snippets of the day:
